Terms of use
These terms are the agreement between you and Savvy Apps Ltd for your use of Sprat. By using Sprat you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
Safety — read this one
Sprat gives advice about fishing on the coast, which can be dangerous. The app is a decision-support tool, not a substitute for your own judgment about conditions. It does not see the sea in front of you, and its advice can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date.
You are responsible for your own safety. Check the conditions where you are, tell someone where you are going, carry the right kit, and do not fish a mark or in weather you are not sure of because an app suggested it. Nothing Sprat shows you overrides your own eyes and judgment, and you fish on your own responsibility.
Fishing afloat carries risks the app does not assess. The RNLI and Coastguard guidance you see in Sprat is a pointer, not a safety briefing — it does not replace proper preparation, the right equipment, checking the forecast, or your own judgment about whether it is safe to go out.
What Sprat is
Sprat suggests what to fish for and how, for a place and a set of conditions, drawn from angling knowledge that is written and reviewed rather than invented on the spot. It is guidance, not instruction, and not a guarantee of a catch — it is fishing, not catching. Tide and marine conditions come from third-party sources and may be inaccurate or unavailable.
Your account
You sign in with a link sent to your email, so keep access to your email secure — anyone who can read it can reach your account. An account is for one person. You must be old enough to agree to these terms; Sprat is not designed for children, and under-18s should only use it with a parent or guardian’s involvement.
Acceptable use
Use Sprat lawfully and sensibly. Do not use it to break the law — including fishing regulations, size and bag limits, closed seasons and access rules, which vary by species and place and are yours to check. Do not attempt to disrupt the service, access other people’s data, or scrape or copy its content for another product.
Your content
The marks, sessions, catches and photos you record are yours. You keep them; you grant us only the permission we need to store and process them so the app works for you, as described in our privacy policy. Your marks are private by default and are never shared with other anglers unless you deliberately choose to make one public. You are responsible for what you record, and for having the right to record it.
Logging what you caught, and what you didn’t, helps Sprat give better advice at that mark over time — for you and for other anglers fishing it. That learning uses the outcome, not you: nothing in it identifies who recorded it, and it never exposes your marks.
Our content
Everything Sprat is made of — the angling knowledge base, the illustrations, the advice it composes, the software and the design — belongs to Savvy Apps Ltd or is used under licence. You may use it to fish. You may not copy, scrape, resell or build another product from it.
Leaving
You can stop using Sprat whenever you like. You can delete your account from within the app, which removes your account and the content tied to it, as described in our privacy policy; or you can email us at hello@savvyapps.uk and we will do it for you. There is nothing to cancel and no charge to leave.
Availability
Sprat is being developed and is offered as it is, without a guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted, or free of errors. We may change, suspend or withdraw features, and we may end your access if you break these terms.
Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to limit or exclude.
Subject to that, Sprat is provided without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for any loss, injury or damage arising from your reliance on its advice or conditions data, or from your fishing. The decisions you make on the coast are yours. To the extent the law permits, our total liability to you for anything connected with Sprat is limited to any amount you have paid us for it.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you we will make it clear. Continuing to use Sprat after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
